"Carmen, Carmen, Carmen", a flamenco show at the Flamenco On Fire Festival.
Last 31st august 2014 Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona joined the first edition of Festival flamenco on Fire, in Pamplona, created around the leading figure of the legendary guitarist Sabicas. Even on its first edition, the festival offered a wide variety of the entire spectrum of flamenco, starting with Tomasito’s flamenco Barcelona rock o Los Evangelistas – with Soleá Morente- and Kiko Veneno.
There was also room for the most commercial flamenco of Niña Pastori, dancing flamenco Barcelona with the leading figure Sara Baras, a tribute to Carmen Amaya with Karime Amaya organized by Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona entitled "Carmen, Carmen, Carmen",Susana López and Junco. The guitar was represented by Tomatito who went alongside his sextet and by Pepe Habichuela and Josemi Carmona. All of them performed a great show fo the audience on the tablao.
In relation to cante flamenco Barcelona, this type of flamenco Barcelona was represented at the festival by three of the big leading figures of this art: José Mercé, Arcángel and Estrella Morente. The three of them formed a must see show that dazzled the audience, as much the ones who approached flamenco Barcelona for first time as the ones who already had been catch by its magic.
.
Flamenco On Fire festival was presented with a format more similar to a macro rock concert or to an electronic music macro festival. It had 3 stages perfectly equipped, 2 on the baluarte and one more at the Ciudadela. “El flamenco viaja al norte” (flamenco travels to the north”) was one of the mottos of this festival, which insisted on bringing the leading figures of flamenco Barcelona to the North West region of Spain, where people usually don’t see first level flamenco festivals.
Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona brought its show “Carmen, Carmen, Carmen” which includes a little tribute to the image of Sabicas as a contemporary of Carmen Amaya, including the song “Mi garrotín” that he performed alongside her. With La Tana as guest artist, the show of the festival also included in its line-up artists of the stature of Karime Amaya, niece-granddaughter of Carmen Amaya, David Cerreduela, who was the guitarist of the sadly deceased Enrique Morente, Belén López or Susana Casas.
